ExamPace

Ready for thepace

Exam season wrecks sleep, then your plan ignores it. ExamPace is a planned iPhone app that compares last night with your own baseline and fits study blocks around your calendar and exam dates.

It is not built. This page tests whether enough students want it. Leave an email and we will tell you once, when the test closes.

Fictional 28-night HRV baseline A line of 28 invented nightly HRV values around a dashed mean, with a shaded band one standard deviation either side. Fictional data. Twenty-eight invented nights of overnight HRV against a personal mean. The thresholds are assumptions, not validated science.

How it would work

Wearable scores tell you how you slept. They do not know that your statistics exam is in nine days or that Thursday has a four-hour lab. The idea is to join the two.

LowSteadyHigh

Bands are relative to your own last 14–28 days, never to other people.

  1. A personal baseline

Sleep, overnight HRV and resting heart rate from Apple Health. No band until seven days of data exist; until then the app would show how many days are left.

  2. A band, with the reason

Low, steady or high, and a one-line “why” such as short sleep or HRV well under your mean. Wrist HRV is noisy, so a call can be wrong.

  3. Free gaps from your calendar

Read-only. Suggested windows never overlap an event, all-day and overnight ones included.

  4. An exam countdown and one nudge

After three low days within fourteen days of an exam, a plain suggestion to protect sleep and lighten the day.

  • Deep-work window
  • Easy-task window
  • Illustration only. Suggested windows, not predicted focus peaks.

The plan is: on your phone, only

Nothing leaves the device.

Reads
Sleep, overnight HRV, resting heart rate, calendar events (read-only).
Stores
Your exams and cached scores, on the phone, excluded from backup.
Sends
Nothing, apart from the App Store handling a subscription.
Status
This describes the intended design. No software exists yet to verify it.

What is real, and what is a guess

We would rather say this plainly. Readiness scores already exist, and some are free. The only bet here is that tying a personal baseline to exam dates and your calendar is worth having.

Known
Sleep and the link to grades are studied, with mixed results. We make no grade claims.
Unknown
How many students at one campus wear an Apple Watch.
Invented
The low, steady and high thresholds. They would be tuned on real volunteer data, or the idea stops.
Test
If too few students sign up, the app is not built.
